Muslim activists stage protest at Ariel`s Bandung home
(Friday,18/06/2010:08.00 wib)

JAKNEWS.COM---A crowd consisting of Muslim mass organization elements rallied outside the home of pop singer Nazriel Ilham alias Ariel here Thursday (17/6) to condemn his appearance in the sex video clips widely circulated among the public.

"The reports on Ariel`s porn videos have brought Indonesia to world-wide shame," Muhammad Anshori, vice chairman of the Bandung chapter of the Islam Defenders` Front (FPI), said when addressing the crowd.

He said Ariel had committed adultery because he was shown having sex with women (Luna Maya and Cut Tari) who were not his legal wives.

"Therefore, Ariel must be punished by stoning as required by Islamic law," he said, adding the authenticity of the videos had been established by an information technology expert.

Ariel`s acts had defamed Bandung which had always upheld its image as a religiously-minded city, a Quran Recital Competition (MTQ) champion.

Muhammad said the Bandung city government must revoke Ariel`s residential identity card (KTP) and the FPI would see to it Ariel would never have a peaceful moment when he was in Bandung.

He also said the FPI had instructed its members to trace Ariel`s whereabouts and was calling on other Muslim mass organizations to do the same.

The demonstrators later posted a picture of Ariel with added features to make him look like satan on the fence of the house`s driveway complemented with captions reading "Sex Maniac", "Bandung forbidden to Satan Ariel."

Before coming to Ariel`s home, the crowd also demonstrated outside a cafe owned by Luna Maya and the Bandung City Council.
