RI representative in NY hosts interfaith dialogue
(Friday,16/05/2008:10.00 wib)

JAKNEWS.COM---Indonesia's representative office in New York hosted an interfaith dialogue Wednesday to reemphasize the importance of religious harmony and tolerance within the international community.

Representatives of the six major religions -- Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism -- attended the dialogue. The speakers were figures from various religious communities in New York.

"This interfaith dialogue, in my view, is a means to develop mutual understanding among the different religious communities in New York," Indonesian Consul General Trie Edi Mulyani said.

She said promoting interfaith tolerance and understanding in Indonesia was a top priority of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's administration.
